Changing group names and memberships

Changing group names

    To change a group name:
1 Open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server you want to administer.
2 Press the Users & Groups button and choose Show Users & Groups List.
3 Double-click the group whose name you want to change.
4 In the group window, type the new group name.
Be sure to tell users that you've changed the group's name.

Changing group membership

To add a user to a group, do one of the following:
In a user window, choose Group Memberships from the pop-up menu, then drag a group from the Users & Groups List to the Group Memberships list.
Drag a user from the Users & Groups List to the group window.

To add a group to another group:
In the Users & Groups List window, drag a group into another group's membership list window.

To remove users from a group, do one of the following:
In a user window, choose Group Memberships from the pop-up menu, then select a group and click the Remove button (looks like a Trash icon).
In a group window, select a user in the list, then click the Remove Selected Item From Group button (looks like a Trash icon).

Note: Although users can be added to a group as members of another group, they can only be removed individually. Removing a user from a group will remove the user from any group to which he or she was added as a member of that group. It will not remove the user from groups to which he was added individually.
